💭You're about to step in a hole! Watch out!
💭You really want to feel great tomorrow! Get some sleep!
And sometimes the messages can be entirely unhelpful:
💭Those people don't like you, don't go to the party!
💭You're a loser, why would you even try?
A really terrific, life-enhancing strategy is to get to know your brain's habitual unhelpful messages. Know the typical stuff it says and when it tends to say those things.
That way, you will be more easily able to:
💭Recognise the unhelpful messages in action ['oh look! There's that message!']
💭Create some space between you and the message ['ha! Thanks brain!']
💭Choose your own values-aligned thought or action.
Your brain tells you stuff; you can choose how to engage with those messages.
