actually
Sunday, August 18, 2013I was being visited, by an Excellent Little Person [and his dad].
Well [he said, in answer to my question] I am actually five. Oh cool [ I replied]. And my dad is thirty-nine. [Got it].
Do you have a TV? [he asked]. Yes [I said] but we don’t really watch it. Big eyes: Whaaat? Whyyy? Ummm [thinking out loud] I guess because we don’t really like it. But we sometimes watch DVDs [offered up, lamely].
A little later: do you have ice-cream? Ummm [again]. No. No ice-cream around these parts [his internal eye.roll almost audible].
Then, a whispered question: Where are their toys?? And finally, a suggestion for his dad: I think it might be time for us to leave.
[Hilarious!] Made me laugh and got me thinking: maybe those Positive Psychology Folk have it a little wrong. Maybe all that’s needed is telly, ice-cream and toys.
