[breaking] bread
Friday, December 6, 2013There I was, in the green grocers. Waiting to buy a loaf of bread [so that I wouldn’t have to have muesli in the morning]. The lady ahead of me was taking a little while – swapping her pineapple, exchanging her strawberries, selecting a few more apples, realising she needed more grapes [that sort of thing].
So I was waiting, consciously choosing to Not Get Frustrated and to enjoy day dreaming instead. When the couple behind me asked if I happened to be eyeing off the last loaf.
err yes? I replied, a little hesitantly. [It was clear they were after it too.]
But I only need a little for breakfast tomorrow… [I offered]
And we only need a little for our dinner… [they sang!]
And so do you know what, my friends? We split that little loaf of bread. And it made me ridiculously happy. Them too. And the shop guy. And the girls behind us who smiled and said: oh! community spirit!
[love that].
