clean
Tuesday, January 7, 2014Sometimes becoming happier can involve simply noticing what brings you joy, and doing more of it.
I was at the Laundromat yesterday. I never go to the Laundromat but I had a big winter doona that needed a heavy duty machine.
Anyway. There I was, at the Laundromat. But instead of rushing around doing stuff while the cycle finished or checking my emails or calling someone or reading dumb stuff on my phone. I just sat there for a little while. There was no-one else around and the machine was making a beautiful, low humming noise. I sat and thought about things and watched the world go by outside. I hadn’t felt so peaceful in quite a while.
I’m happy to do my washing at home; I don’t want to be going there everyday. But what I realised is that I could do with a bit more of that quiet, do.nothing.but.think time.
My next question? How to build more in.
