decipher
Monday, November 21, 2011I was buying new runners [mine are cactus].
She was lovely. Told me that she was an ultra.marathon.runner [and that she has chronic fatigue syndrome]. Whhaat? [said my brain].
We got to talking. I asked her about pain. I have long been curious about how crazy.athlete.folk engage with pain. [Do they relate to it differently than us normal.types?]
The thing with pain [she said] is you have to decipher it.
If it’s pain, it’s pain. But if it’s telling you that you need to stop, well, it’s just lying.
love.love.love. And relevant to non.athletic.life.stuff too, I’d say.
If life is telling you that something is really not.right, it’s important to listen. But if the messages it’s sending are just that this is too hard, that it would be easier to sit.this.one.out, well, it’s just lying.
It’s all about deciphering.
