Go small
Wednesday, August 22, 2018Have you ever had a big goal, something that you really wanted to achieve but it felt so immense and unachievable that you didn’t even bother?
One of the big barriers I see in my coaching practice is Overwhelm. Clients have brilliant goals: write a book, get super fit for a marathon, move to New York, create an awesome business, become an actor. But they just don’t know where to start.
If that’s you, why not try this?
Make a list of heaps and heaps of little [seriously, tiny] steps that will lead you to where you want to go. Write the list down. On an actual piece of paper. Order them from easiest to hardest. And then at least every day [but more often if you feel able] do just one of those things and cross it off.
Make yourself a feedback mechanism [it can be as simple as a calendar page to mark off the days] to track your progress.
Build in some rewards and reinforcements – stuff to look forward to as you achieve and also, to encourage more of that achievement.
Then get started. With today’s single, simple step.
And finally? Email me: when you’re published, as you cross the finish line, from your loft in The Bowery, when you make your first sale, from the set of your new film. Let me know what you’re doing [brag away!] and I’ll pop some bubbles and help you celebrate!
