Goal Striving? Here’s one simple tip
Monday, August 14, 2017Clients come to coaching to achieve goals.
I have heaps of evidence-based insights and strategies that can help with getting started and doing great things. But if I had to choose my one, single, most effective tip, it would have to be this: Write them down.
That’s it.
You would be surprised how many people say they’re not achieving but they aren’t even very clear on what they’re aiming for. [Crazy, right? But definitely understandable]. So try writing it down:
- Set a 90 day goal [make sure it’s a stretch goal. We know that they boost goal-attainment].
- Break the goal down, into chunks.
- Attach dates.
- Then write out clear action steps to get you achieving.
Let me give you an example. Say you’re starting out in business, a simple goal could relate to List Building.
+ 90 Day Goal: Increase newsletter signups from 0-350
+ Stretch it: Make that 500
+ Break it down: 100 then 250 then 500
+ Attach dates: Week 4 – 100 signups / Week 8 – 250 signups / Week 12 – 500 signups
+ Actions Steps/dates:
- Include a sign up form on my website [date to achieve by]
- Create a landing page [date]
- Develop an offering as part of an effective Sales Funnel [date]
- Promote in Insta bio/FB header [date]
- Include links on blogs [date]
- Add link to signature block [date]
- Promote in all media coverage [date]
Getting explicit about what you plan to do, how you plan to do it and the date by which you plan to do it seems very simple. But this simple step will radically transform your levels of goal-attainment.
