lift your gaze
Friday, August 7, 2009I went for a walk during the week with one of My Most Favourite People.
This man is gentle and empathic and thoughtful and I am sure he was born wise. He sees stuff in such an inspiring way, so insightful but always with a twist. I always leave him with my head full of possibilities. But the best thing about him is that he is also wickedly funny. He will be talking about something very seriously and then suddenly throw in a line that gets him freaky.laughing and me snorting along. I think he’s just great.
This lovely friend of mine is also an amazing life teacher (I don’t think he even realises it, which makes me love him even more!)
One of the best lessons he ever passed on to me, was to lift my gaze. When he walks, my friend looks up. And where I always used to look at the pavement, now I too raise my eyes. It’s amazing what you see when you shift your focus…people, clouds, buildings, windows, birds, art, luminous.life!
While I like the practical implications of Lifting Your Gaze, I also like it as a metaphor for seeking out a higher life vision. Brilliant stuff.
