Live, Consciously
Monday, January 30, 2017It is easy to go about your hours, days, weeks, months, years, without really taking notice.
Stuff just happens and you respond. You might have an idea of where you’re headed but you tend to just sort of, live.
And that is fine. There is no problem with that. Unless there is.
Unless you look around and think: this is not the way I want to feel. Or: this isn’t the life I really want. Or: I am not the person I really want to be.
If you find yourself in that position, the solution doesn’t need to be dramatic. You don’t have to overhaul everything and make huge changes and undertake wild shifts. You can start small.
In fact, starting small is probably more effective. Because small is easy and accessible and you will see results. Those results will boost your confidence, which will encourage you to effect bigger change.
So, start.
Start by living consciously in the small moments:
- Choose where you place your bag and phone and keys, when you get home.
- Choose whether you scroll your phone in bed or pick up a book.
- Choose the language you use, when you’re reflecting on your day.
- Choose the stuff you expose yourself to, on social media.
- Choose the people you have a drink with after work.
- Choose the way you listen, when the people you love most speak.
- Choose the words you use, when you speak to yourself.
The great potential for a Life Well Lived lies in the small moments. Choose those moments, carefully.
