Lost motivation? How to find it, fast!

Motivation is a big theme over here at Upstairs. BIG! Specifically: how to find [or rediscover] it.
Incredible women I work with want to do amazing things but often struggle with a lack of drive or fire.
Now I have to tell you, folks. Motivation isn’t brain surgery. It’s easy to understand. And understanding it is the easiest and quickest way to find [or rediscover] it.
Brilliant!
So here is, lovely people. Motivation 101. The simplest and most useful explanation of motivation that I have come across:
Motivation = Interest in the Goal x Belief in Your Ability to Succeed
Once you break it down like that, motivation becomes far more accessible.
Firstly, you make sure you’re interested in the goal [no Shoulds allowed].
And secondly, you identify practical strategies that will boost your faith in your chances of success. These might involve:
- consciously recognising past successes
- engaging in further training
- asking others for help
- establishing a feedback mechanism
- creating a project timeline
- developing a system of rewards and reinforcements
And of course, most importantly: working with a brilliant [and terrifically funny] evidence-based coach.
