More joy
Monday, October 16, 2017Do you ever think about the specific moments of your day that bring you the greatest joy?
I mean that seriously. If you turn your mind, right now, to yesterday – what were the real highlights?
- Was it drinking tea on your own, before the rest of your house began to stir?
- Was it eating peanut butter toast while you read the paper?
- Was it making up songs with your kids on the way to school?
- Was it brainstorming business ideas with your sister?
- Was it standing in front of the partners reporting on your team’s achievements?
- Was it walking round the block at lunch?
- Was it helping kids learn to read at Homework Club?
- Was it talking to your friend about her day?
- Was it sweating it out at the gym?
- Was it sitting on the sofa in your PJs watching bad [read: great, obviously] telly?
World-class life-coaching draws on numerous evidence-based strategies, which are highly effective in helping to boost well-being and encourage achievement. All that research and evidence is also helpfully supported by a sprinkling of common sense.
And one of the basic methods that makes the most sense? Do more of what works.
So notice the moments [however small] that bring you joy and then ask yourself – what can I do tomorrow, to invite more of that in?
