Perfectly creative?
Thursday, July 9, 2020Recently, several clients have been speaking with me about a similar theme: the tension between perfection and creativity.
These terrific women have told me about their drive for professional perfection; about pushing themselves to deliver flawless material, every time. But then they have also reflected on the value they place on being creative and original and fresh.
And together we’ve wondered – can the two sit side by side? Or does the push for perfection invariably dull the potential for innovation?
If you constantly push for unrealistic and unsustainable standards of perfection but find it hard to demand less of yourself [who wants to aim for mediocre?!] it might be helpful to reframe.
What if resisting the urge to be perfect was less a compromising of standards and more a conscious move towards greater possibility?
How might that shift things?
