pushed
Thursday, April 9, 2015I was at the physio yesterday. [I like this lady. She is smart and she listens and she knows what she’s doing. Top Notch].
So, I was back at her office, checking in with my progress on an old injury, which I’ve [finally!] decided to do something about. I was telling her how I’d been going with my exercises and she was planning some more for me. I’ve been doing them all [I reported]. Except that boring, easy one. I dropped that one.
So, Alex [she said]. What I know about you [she continued] is this: you like a challenge. You like the exercises that hurt, the ones that let you know you’re achieving something.
Yes! [I replied] She was right: I feel most capable, confident and fulfilled when I’m really pushing myself.
It’s true for most people. It is often tempting to take the easy option, but it’s the really challenging route, the one that demands all you have, that tends to reveal your best self and deliver the most satisfying results.
