reciprocity
Friday, September 30, 2011Studying full time is a slippery.slope.
A slippery.slope to becoming One of Those People.
One of Those People who don’t leave the house. Who stay in trackies all day. Who stop doing their hair. Or considering make.up [even a just a hint of lip balm]. Or even [eeek!] brushing their teeth.
Extensive research suggests that thoughts and behaviour enjoy a relationship of reciprocal influence: while the way you think and feel can influence the way you act, the way you act [your facial expressions and posture for example] can also influence the way you think and feel.
Getting up, dressed, lip.balmed and out the door [if only down the street to the shoe.man and away from my computer and the essay.that.refuses.to.fix.itself] lifts me up. Makes me feel better. More Like Me.
[crisis averted].
