restored
Sunday, January 20, 2013It had been a big week.
So yesterday afternoon. After a morning filled with beautiful new clients, My Lovely One and I decided on a last.minute road trip. Down to the beach. It wasn’t very warm but he still packed his boardies [I packed a big, woolly jumper].
We talked and watched the world go by and talked some more. I might have closed my eyes for just a minute [or two].
We arrived as the sand was starting to clear. I curled up with a book, on my towel, with my feet tucked under. But instead of reading I just watched the water and the surfers and the sea.gulls and I breathed deeply and thought about stuff.
When he came out [salt.water.soaked, goose.bumped and smiling] I gave up my towel and wrapped him up warm. We wandered up the hill to pick ourselves up a big package of fish and chips to eat on the beach. And as the light was fading, we tucked in.
Positive Psychology reminds us that Positive Emotions are essential for wellbeing. Which seems sort.of.a.bit obvious. But sometimes I think we forget to remind ourselves of the stuff that makes us feel really good in the immediate moment, to chase down those good feelings and to slurp them [deliciously] up.
I drove home with my Favourite Person: sand between our toes, feeling restored and connected, a little sick [but in a good, almost.too.many.chips kind of way] and happy.
[perfect].
