Short & often
Wednesday, April 28, 2021Sometimes I’ll speak to someone and they’ll tell me that they want to write a book or that they want to start an online shop or build their fitness or create a new product or cultivate more friendships or get a promotion or buy a house or like their job or feel more confident.
And I say great!
And then I ask them what they’ve already started doing to move towards that goal. And so often they look at me and say: nothing.
Nothing! And you know what? I get it.
The goal seems so big and so overwhelming that you don’t know where to start. So you continue on – going to work, seeing friends, doing stuff – all the while wishing that you knew what to do and how to make it happen. And the more you do nothing, they more you lose confidence in your capacity to do anything and so it spirals, down.
And that’s where I come in! I help with determining the goal, designing a strategy and then implementing it. I get you doing!
And not in big, huge scary leaps. [Not normally, anyway]. I am much more about encouraging you to develop a really dedicated practice of short, regular periods of focus and effort, that will build to something big.
It might take a long time. But you will absolutely get there faster than you would doing nothing at all.
