side [project]
Monday, September 16, 2013I was at the pub yesterday afternoon. It was a little.thing for a Lovely Person I Know [Her birthday. Super!]
I didn’t know anyone there but My Lovely Person pointed out Another Lovely Person at the end of the table. Someone she had been telling me about.
That Other Lovely Person was no.one in particular. In the sense that he wasn’t The President or a super.fit.athlete or a famous rock star. He was just a regular ol’ person [like you and me].
The thing is though, this Other Lovely Person did something, not all that long ago, that was excellent. [It was nothing crazy: he stayed in his job, didn’t go travelling anywhere, kept his same hair]. What he decided to do was kick start a project to make life a little bit better for folk around him. It didn’t cost him any money, it was not super flash. But it was super inspiring.
Lovely clients speak to me about transforming their lives in order to exist in a way that is far more authentic and satisfying. They put forward big ideas: quit my job! break up with my love! move to NYC! Sometimes those types of change are exactly right and end up encouraging the desired result. But often what is needed is far more subtle: an inspired side project, a little creativity, some gentle persistence.
