small stuff [happiness]
Saturday, February 9, 2013My Lovely One is a crazy bike rider.
All sorts of riding: that weird I.will.never.understand.it.Saturday.morning.in.lycra stuff; fun mountain bike riding; and just happy commuting too. Now, riding and skill is super but it tends to lead to a few injuries.
He came home last weekend with a massive [read: I think I saw some bone…or was it just muscle tissue?] wound that he casually downplayed. I was [naturally] grossed out but simultaneously concerned.
And ever since, I have been helping him out. Playing sexy nurse. If sexy counts as applying silver cream [it stops scabs forming, which apparently is a good thing if you don’t want scars on your elbow…amazing!] and bandages in your pyjamas before you’ve even had coffee.
Anyway, all the grossness aside, this injury has surprised me. I have really been enjoying doing something practical to help him. Normally I am more the emotional love.expresser rather than the practical love.doer. But this week, in just a small way, I have taken on a new role. And it’s made me really happy.
