Survey your friends
Tuesday, March 16, 2021Do you use your friends? And when I say used, I don’t mean in a pick-them-up-then-drop-them sort of way! Of course not!
I mean: do you use your friends to help you with getting a clearer vision of yourself?
When you’re working towards some seriously great, life-enhancing change it can be really helpful to get clear on your strengths and identify your hidden opportunities for growth. Sometimes those things can be hard to see and while there are great tools you can use, people often forget to tap into a resource that’s readily available and a bountiful source of knowledge…their friends!
You might like to try choosing a few people you really trust, surveying them and then collating the feedback. You could ask questions like:
- What am I really good at?
- When do you see me at my best?
- Are there some things about me that you think I might not see very clearly?
- What changes do you think I could make, that might really help me?
- If you were going to describe me to someone who didn’t know me, what would you say?
- What is it about our friendship that you value?
Remember, with this: be careful in the people you choose and be selective in the feedback you take on.
