The Biggest Lie
Wednesday, December 8, 2021It’s not about your status or about how much you earn. It’s not about your address or what your renovation looks like. It’s not about your car or your boat or your private jet. It’s not about the place you work or the places you holiday. It’s not about the school your kids go to or the activities they do all weekend. It’s not about how many followers you have or about how many likes you get.
Your happiness doesn’t depend on those things.
A sense of profound satisfaction depends on how closely you’re living with what is true and right for you. Even though basically everything in society will tell you otherwise.
[And actually, all the stuff that society offers as measures of success, are most likely distracting you from what really will make the most difference.]
Beautiful homes and fancy cars and lovely clothes and fine art and amazing holiday houses are nice. Really nice! But unless they’re just icing on the cake, a welcome side-note in a life that is built on a foundation of self-truth and knowing and deep intrinsic fulfilment, they will never feel really great.
