Wednesday, January 8, 2020The new year is a great time to audit and refine your consumption.
To be clear, I am not talking food: I am absolutely against limiting food and nourishment. I mean media and social media.
It is so easy to find yourself reading and listening to stuff that makes you feel worried or sad or resentful or angry or less-than. But because you’re so used to scrolling and clicking mindlessly, you actually don’t even realise the effect that the content is having on you.
So why not review the things that are going into your brain. Take a moment to consider: your Netflix account; the books beside your bed; your internet search history; the newsletters you’re receiving; the blogs you’re reading; the music you’re playing; your Instagram feed; your podcast lists.
Get clear on what you want from the material you consume – maybe you want it to be positively challenging or thoughtful or light-hearted or funny or joyful. And then do your best to make sure everything you consume meets that standard. It will make a huge difference.
