What change?
Wednesday, November 27, 2019If you’re thinking about coaching, I’m always keen to have a chat first. I can answer any questions you might have and you can get a sense of whether we might be a great professional fit.
One of the questions I am sometimes asked, in these initial conversations, is this: do you actually see change in clients? And that is followed up with: what kind of change do you see?
Now, I have to tell you: coaching always brings change! [I’m not sure I could keep doing my job if it didn’t.] But the shifts that happen aren’t always the ones my clients were expecting, when they signed up.
Evidence-based coaching is often seen as a way to achieve practical goals. But in my practice, I see that it is very difficult to execute and sustain positive, practical change without significant internal shifts.
So you might come to me for help in finding a great new job or moving overseas or making more friends or establishing a business. And we will explore who you are and what you believe and how you think and what you really value. You will gain new insights. You will understand yourself differently. You will move through the world differently.
And then? Then you will be ready to make those big, bold practical shifts.
