yodel
Sunday, February 19, 2012I went for a walk last night with two of my favourite people: a six year old and her four year old brother.
It was after dinner and the light was softening. We were walking small.leg.slow. Holding hands at roads. And noticing small stuff: how street numbers work; how cicadas stop chirping when you jump on the grass; how dogs love licking little.knees; and how the sky spins when you stumble trippy.dizzy from a round.about.
As we were heading back home, my littlest friend suddenly stopped, for no apparent reason. He tilted his head back, looked up, shot his hands into the air and yodelled: the sky is so blue, I can’t believe it!
Fantastic! And a brilliant reminder: to notice all the delicious, life-enhancing, everyday stuff that’s right there.
[just waiting to be yodelled over].
